Graham Turnbull - biography

Graham Turnbull is Professor of Physics at the University of St Andrews. His research in the Organic Semiconductor Centre in St Andrews explores the physics and applications of photonic materials, including light-matter interactions in organic semiconductors and development of chemical sensors, OLEDs and lasers. Much of his research is applications driven – his research group has developed optical sensors for trace detection of explosives and environmental pollutants. He also has expertise in smart lighting technologies, developing lighting components for optical wireless communications and biotechnology. Prof Turnbull is a Senior Member of the IEEE and Fellow of the Institute of Physics.
